Stonemark's Pacific Palisades Contemporary Estate
Huge Windows Installed
Huge laminated glass windows were installed at the house to maximize the homeowners’ fantastic views of the canyon and coastline. The windows were 6 feet wide by 10 or 15 feet high, and weighed between 800 and 1000 lbs apiece. The tempered glass was as much as 1 3/4″ thick. The contractor used a 100 ton crane to lift them into place, as you can see. It takes a full crew of workers to maneuver the crane attachment onto the glass, then guide the window up safely into the air. Another crew awaits its arrival to assist in lowering, then glazing the window into place. Installation of the 9 units and additional skylights took 2 days.
